MAITLAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Continuing to build on a series of honors for innovation and the potential to disrupt the burgeoning wearable technology market, FreeWavz was selected as a Red Herring Top 100 North America Award winner this week in San Diego.
FreeWavz is launching the world’s first wire-free smart fitness earphones with integrated fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring and Bluetooth technology this summer. It was one of only two consumer electronics companies chosen for the award, which honors the year’s most promising private technology companies from the U.S. and Canada. It was selected from a pool of 1,200 applicants.

FreeWavz feature "transmissive" pulse oximetry technology, the same method company founder, Dr. Eric Henson, uses in the operating room to obtain heart rate and oxygen saturation from his patients. FreeWavz not only record heart rate and oxygen saturation but also measure steps, calories burned, and report distance, duration and speed.
The Red Herring award comes on the heels of several other 2015 accolades for technology innovation in the wearable sector, including winning the SXSW Innovation Award, honoree for the CES Innovation Award, and finalist as the Bluetooth SIG Breakthrough Award.
