New Orleans Children Gather to Celebrate New Healthy-Eating Holiday May 21

At this event, kids will want to eat their fruits and vegetables!

Dole joins New Orleans College Prep and Liberty’s Kitchen to christen May 21 the inaugural “National Eat More Fruit and Vegetables Day” before launching its 44-city Get Up and Grow! North American Tour in New Orleans May 28.

As a way to encourage children — and people in general — to eat more fruits and vegetables, Dole created the day as an annual reminder of the link between increased produce consumption and a happier, healthier life. Dole traces some of its history back to New Orleans in the late 1800s, making it the ideal place to launch this annual holiday.
