NEW YORK--()--Boies, Schiller & Flexner announced the addition of Assistant U.S. Attorney Randall W. Jackson to the firm’s recently launched Global Investigations and White Collar Defense practice. Jackson, who conducted some of the most significant trials and investigations in the Southern District of New York over the past several years, follows former SDNY prosecutors Matthew L. Schwartz, Peter M. Skinner, and John T. Zach who all joined the firm in January. Jackson, Schwartz, and Zach tried the six-month long “Madoff Five” case together in 2013-14.

Jackson served as lead or co-lead prosecutor in 15 criminal trials during his eight years as a federal prosecutor. His work with Schwartz and Zach on the prosecution of five lieutenants of Bernard Madoff resulted in the conviction of all the defendants after a six-month jury trial on counts of securities, tax and accounting fraud. Known as one of the government’s finest trial lawyers, Jackson also secured the convictions of “Times Square bomber” Faisal Shahzad on terrorism charges; New York City Council member Larry Seabrook on public corruption charges; New York City Police Officer Gilberto Valle (the “Cannibal Cop”) on charges of conspiracy to kidnap and illegal hacking of a police database; Joseph Lombardo, who formerly managed investments on behalf of the National Basketball Players Association, on fraud charges; and Gerardo Aguilar Ramirez, the Commander of the 1st Front of the Colombian narco-terrorist organization FARC-EP.

“We’re excited to have one of the country’s great young trial lawyers join the firm, and to reunite him with his former colleagues in our already thriving global investigations practice,” said Chairman David Boies. “Randall will be an immediate asset for our financial services clients, not only in government investigations, but also in private disputes, including trials and arbitrations.”

Managing Partner Jonathan Schiller said, “The firm’s clients, particularly those in the banking and financial services sector, will benefit greatly from Randall’s insight and experience, including his tremendous courtroom savvy. Randall led numerous complex international investigations for the government, and now he will do the same here. His unparalleled relationships with U.S. and foreign law enforcement and regulators will be a boon to our clients.”

“For me, Boies, Schiller & Flexner is the best litigation firm in the country, handling some of the world’s most important, high stakes cases,” Jackson said. “The opportunity to work with some of the best attorneys in the world, including some of my former colleagues, and to expand the firm’s global investigations and white collar work, was too good to pass up.”

Jackson was awarded the U.S. Justice Department’s Distinguished Service Award by the Attorney General of the United States in 2011 and awarded the U.S. Justice Department’s John Marshall Award by the Attorney General in 2014. He was also selected in 2013 and 2014 to The Root 100, a ranking of the 100 most influential African American people under 45 in the United States. He is a former law clerk to the Honorable Ann Claire Williams in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and also clerked for the Honorable Nina Gershon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Prior to his clerkships, Jackson was an associate in the Washington, DC office of Arnold & Porter LLC. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College.

Jackson joins many other Boies, Schiller & Flexner lawyers who formerly held significant positions in government, including seventeen other former federal prosecutors, officials with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, and the New York Attorney General’s Office, as well as within the White House and in Congress.
