MIRAMAR, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Univita Health, the leader in post-acute and home healthcare solutions, has earned accreditation from the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) of the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for sterile compounding of prescriptions. This accreditation is recognized as an independent audit of an organization’s commitment to delivering quality care and services in compliance with nationally-recognized United States Pharmacopeia (USP) 797 standards.
PCAB accreditation assesses the compounding process based on a specific set of standards that concentrate on the quality and consistency of medications produced. Sterile Pharmacy Compounding is the practice of preparing custom medications for patients in a sterile environment to prevent contamination and maintain patient safety.
"We are pleased to receive PCAB pharmacy compounding accreditation. This accreditation emphasizes our unwavering commitment to producing safe, high quality prescriptions for our infusion patients,” said Michael Muchnicki, President and Chief Executive Officer of Univita Health. “Compounding medications allows us to provide a wider array of life-sustaining medications to our patients in the comfort of their own home.”
Univita’s state-of-the-art Miramar, Florida, compounding pharmacy utilizes an innovative system of sophisticated high-definition cameras to maintain the highest quality and sterile cleanroom standards while helping to expedite service to our patients. Univita is currently building a second compounding pharmacy in Orlando, Florida. The new pharmacy is expected to open this summer.
In addition to PCAB accreditation, Univita’s compounding pharmacy is Joint Commission accredited and USP 797 compliant.
