BRISBANE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In a move to ensure optimal privacy for players of its highly popular Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride games, Halfbrick (www.halfbrick.com) has made privacy updates that have resulted in an ‘A’ rating from testing organization PrivacyGrade.
Fruit Ninja enjoys a position as one of the world’s top mobile games, having achieved over 1 billion downloads to date and as many as 35 million unique players each month. Likewise, the company’s popular Jetpack Joyride game has been lauded by critics as one of the hottest mobile games in the world, with a monthly active user count of up to 60 million players not uncommon for the endless "Jetpack Flyer" game.
Due to its vast user base Halfbrick is conscious of its responsibility to protect the privacy of all users as they interact with the company’s games.
Following testing in late 2014 that produced a less-than-stellar ranking, Halfbrick has released new builds for Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride (on both iOS and Android platforms). These new builds have problematic legacy coding removed.
“We applaud the increasing level of attention to the collection and use of player data,” said Shainiel Deo, Halfbrick CEO. “We take great satisfaction in providing our fans with a safe and secure experience, and we continue to apply global best practices in how we achieve this.”
“The PrivacyGrade process has been a very informative fortuitous service for our studio,” added Chief Legal Officer Kate Hynes. “The testing process underscores our extremely high bar for privacy protection during the product development process. It is our intention to continually be a leader on this front.”
Founded in 2001 in Brisbane, Australia, game developer Halfbrick is now firmly established at the forefront of the game development industry. From humble beginnings developing licensed titles for platforms such as Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, the company now provides a full portfolio of independently released and highly successful games that span multiple platforms. With the success of Fruit Ninja (available on the AppStore, Google Play and Amazon App Store) Halfbrick has become one of the most well known indie developers in the world.
