SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On Wednesday, May 6, 2015, SourceAmerica®, a nonprofit organization that creates job opportunities for people with disabilities, presented Sacramento International Airport with its 2014 Commercial Business Partnership Award. The presentation took place at the SourceAmerica® National Training and Achievement Conference in Hollywood, FL. SoureAmerica® recognized the airport for its commitment to creating jobs for people with disabilities through its partnership with PRIDE Industries.
In 2011, PRIDE Industries was awarded a contract for custodial maintenance of Terminal B. The contract created jobs for 89 individuals, nearly half of whom are people with disabilities. PRIDE Industries nominated the Airport System for this national honor.
The SourceAmerica® Commercial Business Partnership Award is presented annually to organizations that have partnered with an AbilityOne® nonprofit agency, such as PRIDE, to increase employment opportunities for people with significant disabilities. AbilityOne® is a federal program that creates employment for people who are blind or have significant disabilities, by providing products and services to the U.S. government.
“We are grateful to the Sacramento County Dept. of Airports for their partnership,” says Michael Ziegler, PRIDE Industries President/CEO. “Maintenance of this highly visible venue sends a message to the entire community about the value of employing individuals with disabilities. Together, we create an opportunity for those most often excluded from employment.”
“Sacramento International Airport is proud to embrace a diverse and inclusive workforce,” says John Wheat, Sacramento County Director of Airports. “PRIDE Industries team members are highly committed and deliver a quality result. We view them as a valuable asset to our organization.”
