ROBBINSVILLE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Red Cross Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region is partnering with NorthStar VETS (NSV) once again for their annual human and companion animal blood drive on Tuesday, May 12, from 9:00AM to 2:00PM at the Robbinsville, New Jersey animal hospital, located at 315 Robbinsville Allentown Road.
“While most people realize that humans often require donated blood for survival, most don’t think about dogs and cats having the same need for blood that people do,” said Kimberly Hammer, VMD, DACVIM, an internal medicine specialist at NorthStar VETS and supervising veterinarian for their blood bank. “NorthStar VETS Blood Bank for Dogs and Cats offers this vital service and wonderful opportunity to join forces with the Red Cross to help save human and animal lives at the same time.”
At this event, human blood donations will go to the Red Cross and medical professionals at NorthStar VETS will screen all pets. Animal blood bank donors at NSV are called “Superheroes!” You can view them by clicking here. The animal blood donation process is quick and easy. Interested pet owners may take the online survey at northstarvets.com/blood-bank-screening to see if their pet qualifies. If so, NorthStar VETS will contact the owner to set up the first appointment.
All human blood donors can call 1-800-RED CROSS for an appointment or log on to redcrossblood.org and enter the keyword: NorthStarVets
