SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cloudmark, Inc., a trusted leader in intelligent network security, today announced that a leading regional wireless carrier has dramatically reduced mobile spam using Cloudmark Security Platform. The carrier is currently using Cloudmark to detect and block email-to-SMS spam. The carrier’s customers are also now able to report unsolicited SMS messages to the Spam Reporting Service (SRS), which is powered by Cloudmark.
Before implementing Cloudmark, the carrier was unable to monitor or detect SMS spam messages. As a result, high volumes of spam traffic were negatively impacting both its network and the reliability of its services. The carrier sought to protect its subscribers and its network from mobile threats while reducing unnecessary traffic on its network. Within just months, the carrier has blocked more than 20 million messages, helping increase customer satisfaction and reduce complaints related to unsolicited messages.
The carrier is also participating in a global Spam Reporting Service, powered by Cloudmark, which receives messaging spam reports reported by mobile subscribers from participating mobile networks around the world. Feedback from subscribers who forward unsolicited messages, most commonly by typing ‘7726’ or ‘SPAM,’ is aggregated, analyzed and incorporated into the system. This on-network and off-network data gives operators the ability to understand the extent of spam originating from, entering and leaving their networks.
