HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the spirit of Earth Month, Freeway Insurance, one of the largest privately-owned insurance brokers in the United States, celebrates the positive impact of its company-wide green initiatives. Over the past year, Freeway Insurance has shredded and recycled approximately 45 tons of paper, yielding the following eco-friendly results:
Carbon footprint – 65,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions avoided
Landfill space – 225 cubic yards of landfill space conserved
Trees – Over 751 trees preserved
Energy – 100,000 kWh of electricity saved
Water – 1.2 million gallons of water saved, which equals approximately 134 pools full of water
“As a rapidly growing company, we are proud of our unwavering commitment to sustainability. Freeway Insurance’s efforts to conserve resources positively impact the environment and our bottom line, allowing us to give back to our employees, our customers and the community, while doing our part during California’s severe draught,” said Valeria Rico, Chief Executive Officer of Freeway Insurance. “All companies, whether large or small, share the important responsibility of protecting our natural resources, so we’re thrilled that our green initiatives are making a positive impact.”
Once shredded, paper used at Freeway Insurance offices goes to paper mills for pulping. This recycling process benefits the global environment by reducing pollution, preserving landfill space and likewise saving trees, water and energy resources.
