LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--James G. Ellis, dean of the USC Marshall School of Business and William W. Holder, dean of the USC Leventhal School of Accounting have announced the speakers for the 2015 commencement ceremonies, to be held on Friday, May 15, at the University Park campus of the University of Southern California.
These satellite ceremonies will take place after the main university commencement ceremony at 9 a.m. in Alumni Park, and will individually recognize graduating students from Marshall and Leventhal.
Evan T. Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snapchat, will be the commencement speaker for the USC Marshall Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony at 11 a.m. in the Galen Center.
Alumna Mary Ann Sigler, CFO of Platinum Equity, will be the commencement speaker at the USC Leventhal Undergraduate and Graduate Commencement Ceremony at 2:30 p.m. in Epstein Family Plaza.
Robert J. Coury, executive chairman of Mylan, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, will be the commencement speaker at the USC Marshall Graduate Commencement Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in the Galen Center.
“Our commencement speakers are leaders in their respective industries, and our students will benefit greatly from their insights and vision,” said Ellis. “We expect it will make for a remarkable final lesson for all our graduates, and we are truly grateful to each of our esteemed speakers.”
EVAN T. SPIEGEL was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2014. He was also named to Forbes’ list of tomorrow’s superstars: “30 Under 30 Who Are Changing the World.”
Spiegel, 24, is co-founder and CEO of Snapchat, an ephemeral messaging and story-telling platform. Spiegel first proposed the idea for disappearing photo messaging in 2010 as part of a class project while a student at Stanford, and went on to develop the popular application with co-founder Bobby Murphy.
MARY ANN SIGLER (MBT ’80) was named among the Top 100 Most Influential People in Finance by Treasury & Risk magazine in 2010. Sigler is chief financial officer of Platinum Equity, where as the top finance executive, she is responsible for managing strategic planning projects for the global firm, which specializes in mergers, acquisitions and operations of companies worldwide that provide mission-critical products, services and solutions across various industries. She is also the firm's chief compliance officer.
Prior to joining Platinum Equity, Sigler was a senior partner at Ernst & Young, where she had a 25-year career. She holds a B.A. in accounting from California State University Fullerton and a Master of Business Taxation from USC Leventhal.
ROBERT J. COURY transformed Mylan into the largest generic and specialty pharmaceutical company in the world, earning spots in both the S&P 500 and the Fortune 500. As Executive Chairman, Coury has led the company through a series of transactions totaling approximately $15 billion, positioning Mylan as a global powerhouse within the highly competitive pharmaceutical industry.
Coury earned a B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and is currently the proud parent of two current USC undergraduates.
