NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SpecialtyCare, a leading provider of outsourced operating room clinical services, announced today that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of ProNerve, an intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) company. This makes SpecialtyCare the market leader in both outsourced perfusion and IONM services and also broadens the wide range of clinical outsourced services they offer that help ensure patient health and safety in the operating room. The combined organization will handle more than 67,000 IONM procedures annually at hospitals in 42 states.
Melvin F. Hall, PhD, SpecialtyCare’s Chief Executive Officer, commented, “I am excited to officially welcome ProNerve’s associates on board and look forward to working together in order to continue providing all our customers with the exceptional service and value they expect from us. This transaction significantly extends the expertise and support we can offer to hospitals so that they can improve patient safety and outcome quality while simultaneously optimizing efficiency and costs. Our added scale also uniquely positions us to provide best-in-class training and education programs so that clinicians and professionals in operating rooms across the U.S. can meet the highest safety standards.”
SpecialtyCare also announced that with the aim of supporting and accelerating its ongoing growth it has further strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of new senior leaders in the last several months. Most recently added was John Arena as General Counsel, who previously was General Council for Direct General Corp and prior to that was with Golden Living. Mr. Arena’s appointment follows other key hires that SpecialtyCare has made including Brett Burrell, Chief Compliance Officer, who most recently worked for AEGIS Sciences Corporation. David Peterson, Senior Vice President of Marketing, and Susan Byrd, Senior Vice President of People, both joined the team from healthcare services and technology leader Emdeon. Additionally, Chris Gillig, Carolyn Inhoffer Montes, and John Gordon, who have previous tenures at American Healthcare Services, Healthgrades, and Press Ganey, respectively, were added as Region Presidents.
Dr. Hall added, “These key hires will help fuel our continuing, aggressive organizational and market share growth. All of them have impressive track records and are ideal complements to our people-driven, results-oriented team. They are integral assets that will drive our customer-focused commitment to improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare.”
