MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Evergent, the leading provider of business management solutions for over-the-top (OTT) video service providers, and Audible Magic, the trusted leader in automatic content recognition (ACR) fingerprinting technologies, today announced a solution for OTT providers to authenticate users on their mobile devices without requiring them to input passwords.
The solution will be demonstrated at the 2015 NAB Show, April 13-16 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Demonstrations will be in Audible Magic’s booth, number SU10112.
The solution, sold by Evergent, integrates authentication capabilities of Evergent’s cloud business management suite and Audible Magic’s ACR technology to deliver an effortless end-user experience. Audible Magic provides content recognition technology that identifies a live TV broadcast playing in the room by matching audio sampled from a mobile device microphone against audio “fingerprints” for the broadcast that Audible Magic has captured and stored in the cloud. The Evergent software uses the live TV identification plus location information to authenticate that the mobile user is watching the broadcast via a TV subscription. Thus users can authenticate their OTT apps without remembering passwords.
“We are excited to present this ground-breaking authentication capability,” said Vijay Sajja, CEO and Founder of Evergent. “Audio authentication enables OTT service providers to leapfrog password authentication approaches offered by traditional OSS/BSS vendors and eliminate a friction point from end user adoption.”
“We think the Evergent implementation represents one more powerful example of what automated live TV identification can do to propel rapid evolution in the TV delivery industry,” said Vance Ikezoye, CEO of Audible Magic. “We look forward to showing the solution together at NAB.”
