SEATTLE--()--Today Redfin (, the customer-first real estate brokerage, launched Redfin Shared Search, a feature that makes it easy for people who are shopping for a home together to collaborate on the process. Now anyone using or the Redfin app on their iPhone or iPad can save, share and comment on their favorite homes with their co-buyer, real estate agent, friends or family. The list of shared favorites and comments will appear under each person’s profile on Redfin.

To get started, house hunters need to add a home to their favorites list on Redfin by selecting the heart icon next to the home they like. Then they can share their favorites list by entering in the email address of the person who is buying a home with them. Once that person confirms, each person can see the homes that they both had on their favorites lists, as well as any homes that only one person favorited. They can also post private comments on the Redfin pages that have photos and information about each home, or on their shared favorites list. Each person receives notifications when the other one adds a new favorite or makes a comment. They can also invite others to view their favorites and make comments on the homes.

“Almost every homebuyer has been doing shared search for years, just via emails, calls, print-outs and post-its; 76% of Redfin customers are married or in a civil union, and sometimes work with one another more closely on the search for a home than on their wedding,” said Glenn Kelman, Redfin’s chief executive officer. “As a shared workspace for couples and their agents to talk about which listings they like, Redfin Shared Search is another example of how Redfin is deepening the home-search experience beyond the initial online preview of listings. What’s new today is our support for discussing which homes to visit, but we use a combination of software and service to make every step of the process easy, from booking last-minute home tours from a Redfin Agent with a few clicks, to tracking documents and deadlines during the escrow process.”

In addition to Shared Search, other features for homebuyers that are available exclusively on include Tour Insights, which are observations about homes for sale from Redfin real estate agents, and Redfin Hot Homes, which identifies when a home is likely to have an accepted offer in two weeks or less.
