ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland and Labrador--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Verafin Inc. unveils FRAMLx, an innovative enhancement to its FRaud detection and Anti-Money Laundering (FRAML) software, today in California.
Powered by technology available only in the Verafin Cloud, FRAMLx delivers advanced cross-institutional analysis to detect suspicious activity across multiple institutions. FRAMLx is an exclusive Verafin advantage and this technology is the first of its kind to be offered by any fraud and AML software provider. FRAMLx will enable institutions to gain more insight on customer behavior, collaborate in their investigations, and more accurately detect suspicious activity made possible through the safe harbor provided by Section 314(b) of the USA PATRIOT Act.
Starting in California, Verafin added two high-profile speakers, Chris Swecker and Timea Nagy to its national tour. The tour serves as a platform to educate industry professionals on trends, discuss hot topics, and unveil the latest in fraud detection and anti-money laundering software, FRAMLx. These new speakers will address two of the most important topics facing FIs today: the power and capabilities of the FRAMLx innovation and human trafficking.
Chris Swecker (Financial Crimes Consultant) served 24 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) before retiring as one of the top officials in the FBI. As Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division, he was responsible for eight FBI divisions encompassing more than half of the FBI’s total resources. He led all FBI criminal investigations including money laundering, organized crime/drug trafficking and financial crime matters.
“Criminal enterprises mask their illegal operations by exploiting multiple financial institutions simultaneously,” says Chris Swecker, former Assistant Director of the FBI. “Cross-institutional analysis deprives criminals of this significant advantage by detecting the broader scope of their collusive activities and acting quickly to shut them down.”
Timea Nagy, human trafficking survivor, is the other speaker added to the national tour. Nagy, who is also an author and social advocate, founded Walk With Me, an organization that assists victims of human trafficking and counsels law enforcement. Within the last five years her organization has assisted over 300 victims of human trafficking as well as 39 police agencies. She has trained approximately 10,000 law enforcement personnel and has received numerous awards for her work. She will tell her personal story and speak to the importance of FIs coming together to help prevent human trafficking.
"I'm thrilled to speak at the FRAMLx tour in California,” says Timea Nagy. “Human trafficking is a complex, multifaceted crime and having companies like Verafin join forces with financial institutions to combat it is a valuable and necessary step in preventing it."
FRAMLx is a giant step forward in the fight against financial crime. “The benefits of this innovation to Verafin customers is significant. It’s truly a game changer,” says Jamie King, CEO of Verafin. “Through FRAMLx, our customers will be able to easily collaborate and work together to fight financial crime. The people we have spoken to see this as a huge benefit and are really excited, they can’t wait to start using it! We’ve always seen the value in collaboration and now with FRAMLx, we can take it to a whole other level.”

FRAMLx is the next innovation in fraud detection and anti-money laundering that expands the limited view of a single institution and detects patterns of activity across two or more financial institutions. From a money launderer structuring cash deposits at two or more institutions to sophisticated fraud rings, FRAMLx strengthens a Financial Institution’s (FI) detection capabilities. This approach is enabled by the Verafin Cloud and uses advanced cross-institutional analysis on billions of transactions to identify potential suspicious activity that would otherwise be missed at a single institution. This is enabled by the safe harbor provided in Section 314(b) of the USA PATRIOT Act.
