CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Atlanta region saw an increase in high-value public sector projects in 2014, as well as the total number of construction projects released for bid when compared to 2013.
According to BidClerk data, Atlanta saw almost 1,800 construction projects released for bid in 2014, with a total contract value of $4.47 billion. This represents a 76% increase compared to 2013.
Nationally, BidClerk reported on 162,000 commercial construction projects valued at $455 billion in 2014. BidClerk saw an increase in the total contract values of more than $175 billion compared to 2013. These figures include both public and private work and represent the aggregate value of actively bidding commercial construction contract opportunities available in BidClerk's database.
One notable project in the Atlanta region is the renovation of the Atlanta History Center. CD Moody Construction Company is at the helm and MSTSD Inc. is creating the design for the $20 million project.
Another noteworthy project is an apartment tower at 1163 W. Peachtree. The $60 million project is headed by general contractor Batson-Cook Company and architectural firm Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates Inc.
The Atlanta area counties included in the report are Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale.
