CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In 2014, Washington, DC showed an overall increase in project value. BidClerk 2014 data showed the Washington, DC / Baltimore MSA regions saw more than 4,000 new construction projects released for bid, with total contract values of more than $25 billion. This compares to a total contract value of more than $16 billion reported by BidClerk in 2013.
Nationally, BidClerk reported on 162,000 commercial construction projects valued at $455 billion in 2014. BidClerk saw an increase in the total contract values of more than $175 billion compared to 2013. These figures include both public and private work and represent the aggregate value of actively bidding commercial construction contract opportunities available in BidClerk's database.
For Washington, DC, BidClerk data shows more than 3,500 new construction projects released for bid, with a combined contract value of $12.9 billion.
One noteworthy project from 2014 was the $60 million Athletic Training Facility project at Georgetown University. Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is the general contractor on the project and Bowie Gridley Architects designed it.
For Baltimore, BidClerk data shows more than 1,300 new construction projects released for bid, with a combined contract value of more than $3.9 billion.
Another significant project is the $139.2 million Duke Ellington School of the Arts Modernization. GCS Inc. is leading the project and LBA/GCS is designing it.
