HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A.M. Best executives Dr. Roger Sellek, CEO, EMEA & Asia Pacific and Ms. Susanna Lam, Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, will host a seminar titled, “Indonesia: Ready to embrace the next wave of change?”, on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at The General Insurance Association of Indonesia (AAUI), Jakarta, from 9:00am to 4:15pm.
In 2014 Indonesia implemented a new insurance law to align the country's regulatory framework with international best practices and to meet existing and future challenges for the industry. Key changes in the law include enhanced regulation with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) being given broader powers to monitor and supervise the activities of insurance companies. The new law also aims to boost domestic reinsurance retention and enhance local reinsurance capacity with the creation of Indonesia Re to meet local insurers' reinsurance needs.
Against this dynamic backdrop, A.M. Best will co-organize a complimentary seminar with The General Insurance Association of Indonesia (AAUI). Speakers from A.M. Best will be joined by regulators and local and regional market practitioners to provide insights on how credit ratings play a key role in informing the market of the financial strength and stability of risk carriers, as well as enhancing discipline and stability throughout the market. The seminar will be divided into two sessions: the morning will have a high-level strategic flavour, whilst the afternoon will have a more technical focus.
