WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sonus Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: SONS), a global leader in enabling and securing real-time communications, today announced that it has entered into a global relationship with Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, ensuring the full interoperability of Sonus’ Session Border Controllers (SBCs) with Huawei Enterprise’s Unified Communication (UC) and Contact Center (CC) solutions. Under the global agreement governing this relationship, Huawei will distribute and resell Sonus SBCs with Huawei UC and CC solutions to enterprises throughout the world. Sonus’ SBCs were selected for their rich functionalities, flexibility, broad interoperability and superior calls per second (CPS) performance, which will help Huawei secure and enable real-time communications across its key, mission-critical customer sites.
Huawei UC applications can be used in various scenarios by enterprise employees to access Voice over IP (VoIP), collaborative conferencing, remote training and office applications anytime, anywhere. Sonus SBCs enable enterprises to enhance their network by implementing new services such as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking and safeguard Cloud-based UC. Featuring both hardware and software options, Sonus SBCs provide a scalable platform delivering session management capabilities, such as multi-vendor interworking, built-in media transcoding, line-rate encryption and advanced routing capabilities. The relationship can allow customers to securely, reliably and intelligently deliver enhanced UC and CC services, including voice, video and web conferencing, instant messaging (IM) and presence.
The cornerstone solution for the partnership is the Sonus SBC 5110, a platform that addresses the real-time communications requirements of medium-to-large enterprises in an all-Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia environment. The SBC 5110 (supporting up to 10,000 sessions) provides robust security, unparalleled scalability, flexible SIP routing and interoperability as well as exceptional and secure multimedia support for audio, video and data.
“Huawei is an established leader in the global information and communications technology market,” said Tony Scarfo, executive vice president, Product Management and Corporate Development, Sonus. “Together, Sonus and Huawei can now offer enterprises worldwide a managed UC platform that will reliably and securely foster increased collaboration of employees.”
“As Unified Communications technology implementation continues to increase, enterprises will place a high priority on platform offerings with a vision and road map to support the UC functionality their organization may need,” said Steve Cramoysan, Research Director, Gartner, Inc. “It is paramount that platform ecosystems deliver interoperability to ensure customers fully realize the benefits from an integrated platform offering.”*
