GHOST ECONOMY PANEL AT SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST INTERACTIVE FESTIVAL 2015 WILL ROCK THE RETAIL BOAT

Rock star retail panel will spotlight the operational challenges keeping retailers from maximum profitability, and how they can reclaim $800 billion in lost sales worldwide

OrderDynamics today announces its official 2015 South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive session on “The Ghost Economy,” where OrderDynamics CMO Kevin Sterneckert will be joined by Cindy Lincks, vice president of ecommerce at Brooks Brothers; Kelland Willis, senior manager for SMB solutions at SAP and former Forrester retail analyst; and moderator Joe Skorupa, group editor-in-chief for RIS News, to highlight the data disconnects causing $800 billion in lost retail sales globally. It’s a can’t-miss panel for retailers in search of profitable solutions to the hauntings causing lost sales and unsatisfied shoppers and will be held at 12:30 p.m. CDT on Monday, March 16, at Hyatt Regency Austin. For a sneak peak of the action, check out this video of what to expect during the session.

The Problem

The Ghost Economy exists when commerce activities are disconnected across a retailer’s omni-channel operations, resulting in inventory distortion, product markdowns and disjointed customer experiences across channels. Poorly assembled website and product information, excess inventory, incorrect pricing, unengaged customer interactions and missed marketing opportunities all contribute to this retail epidemic, and retailers are in search of solutions.

The Purpose

“The horror story is… a retailer cannot afford to have a Ghost Economy persist,” says Skorupa. “There is real downside risk for those who do not adapt traditional methods to new realities and do so quickly. The retail mantra needs to become ‘see the complete problem, solve the problem quicker, serve consumers how they want to be served,’ but retail enterprises need access to the right tools to meet the shifting tide of customer expectations, enabling efficient operations and profitability across every channel. This session will help retailers pinpoint the weakest links in their operations and provide actionable insights on how to increase profitability to survive and thrive in the world of digital retail.”

The Panelists

Cindy Lincks of Brooks Brothers will share insights on how the United States’ oldest clothing retailer transformed its internal operations to increase profitability and improve the customer experience. Kelland Willis will bring her extensive knowledge of global omni-channel retailing to the panel to provide session attendees with the rare look inside how these hauntings can chip away at the holy grail of retail – a seamless and extraordinary customer experience. Joe Skorupa’s proficiency in retail technology journalism earned his recognition as one of the Top 50 Influencers in Retail. And Kevin Sterneckert’s insights on retail operations and profitability stem from his extensive research as lead retail analyst at Gartner Research; his passion for helping retailers gain visibility into each channel and department of their enterprise led him to his current role as CMO of OrderDynamics.

SXSW Interactive is hosted annually by the city of Austin, Texas, and is considered by many influencers across industries to be the must-attend innovation, collaboration and co-creation conference of the year.

The Ghost Economy session is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency, Room Hill Country ABCD.
