SAN FRANCISCO & LOS ANGELES & SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wonacott Communications (Wonacott), a full-service independent public relations and integrated communications agency that adheres to AP style but is not afraid to make up a word from time to time (a Wonacottism), is officially announcing the appointment of Johner Riehl as Vice President/PR Lebowski and the addition of Andrew Park as Account Director/PR Special Agent for its award-winning interactive entertainment and technology PR team. Based in San Diego, Calif., Johner leads the agency’s Games Practice, while Andrew provides a critical point of contact in San Francisco and the broader Bay Area for the growing video games and technology communications team. The incredimazing Wonacott team is headquartered in Los Angeles.
Johner, who previously worked in-house at Midway and at mega PR agencies Edelman and Golin/Harris on the Microsoft and Nintendo accounts, respectively, officially joined Wonacott as Vice President of the interactive entertainment practice following nearly a year and a half as an exclusive media and creative consultant to the firm. Although technically he is vice president, he is more of a PR Lebowski because sometimes there’s a man – we won’t say a hero – that really can tie a PR program together.
As Wonacott’s new Director and boots on the ground in San Francisco, Andrew is a PR Special Agent poised to use what he does have, a particular set of skills – skills acquired over a very long career, skills that make him an invaluable addition to an agency like Wonacott and its clients.
Andrew’s previous tours of duty include being an inveterate game journalist as managing editor at GameSpot.com, where he covered games on all platforms and worked with teams from all functions and around the globe. Covering new tech gadgets and games for PC/Windows, Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Wii U, and mobile, he produced both day-to-day stories and also large-scale yearly content projects and, generally speaking, was universally considered an awesometastic guy to work with.
Andrew earned his marketing communications chops while with mobile game developer Game Insight, providing communications strategy to help the European company launch numerous titles while expanding its reach both in the US and internationally.
“While we were certainly experienced, established and even esteemed – and, obviously, humble – within the video games industry, it’s a true testament to Johner and Andrew to say that they significantly raise our level of PR awesomeness even further,” said Jason Wonacott, CEO, founder and chief PR guy at Wonacott Communications. “Andrew’s a long-respected presence in the video games industry, and is widely recognized as smart, thoughtful and insightful about a broad range of games from his time as managing editor at GameSpot. And Johner’s diverse experience helming a wide range of PR efforts for console, PC and mobile properties, from Pokémon to Mortal Kombat, gives us super invaluable insight and experience that will benefit every company, product, technology and person we work with.”
The dynamic duo of Riehl and Park join founder Jason Wonacott on the agency’s leadership team. As a former reporter as well as PR lead for massively multiplayer online (MMO) game giants Turbine in Boston and Webzen in Korea, Jason has established a solid baseline of awesomitivity with Wonacott Communications, which has launched numerous console, PC and mobile games, MMOs, apps, technology platforms, and convergent entertainment properties and experiences since being formed in 2007.
Wonacott’s current client roster includes SEGA, Versus Evil, Kobojo, Nexon, Lion Forge, Takehollywood, Oomba and more.
