REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--C3 Energy Chairman and CEO Thomas M. Siebel will headline the 2015 MIT Energy Conference, delivering the plenary keynote speech on Friday to kick off the sold-out 10-year anniversary of this event. Each year, MIT engages over a thousand attendees, including leaders from industry, government, and the scientific community, in fact-based discussion and innovative problem solving around tomorrow’s energy challenges.
Siebel will address the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in energy as next-generation technologies including cloud computing, big data, machine learning, cyber physical systems, and social-human interaction models converge to advance the modern energy system and define a new energy economy.
“As much as $2 trillion is being invested this decade to upgrade the power infrastructure globally to make it sensored, connected, and smarter – building the foundation of the Internet of Energy. As the energy ecosystem adapts from managing a relatively small number of non-communicating devices to connecting hundreds of millions of diverse sensored devices, data volumes will expand exponentially. To effectively aggregate and manage this influx of data, new technologies are required to integrate, process, apply analytics and machine learning, and intuitively visualize the data and analytic results in a way that drives business outcomes,” said Siebel.
C3 Energy’s President and Chief Technology Officer Ed Abbo will also speak at the event. As part of the Power & Renewables panels, he will address the steps that utilities, regulatory bodies, and industry can take today to better prepare for the utility of the future. He will discuss the IT infrastructure investments required to meet the scaling of smart grid technologies.
The MIT Energy Conference will be held Feb. 27 – 28, 2015, in the Kendall Square Marriott on the MIT Campus. Attendees will hear from energy visionaries and explore ways by which technological development, novel policy, and finance innovation enable the disruption of legacy value chains and convergence of global economies.
