LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Los Angeles Business Council Institute (LABCI) announced three leaders from the business and public sectors to its Board of Directors.
Lewis C. Horne, President of the Greater Los Angeles and Orange County Region for CBRE; Noor Menai, President & CEO of CTBC Bank USA; and Stephen Cheung, Director of International Trade of the Port of Los Angeles will offer their unique insights to the LABCI’s innovative policy research and education programs.
“Lew, Noor and Stephen are the kind of forward-thinking professionals that set the Los Angeles Business Council Institute apart from the rest. They represent expertise in three fields – real estate, finance, and international trade – that are each integral to the economic growth and sustainable development of our city,” said Mary Leslie, President of the Los Angeles Business Council. “The LABCI is thrilled to welcome them to our Board of Directors, and we look forward to their contributions and leadership as we continue to actively participate in Mayor Eric Garcetti’s international business trade delegations and move forward with exciting new initiatives in Los Angeles.”
The three new board members will lead the LABC Institute, which provides a bridge between the business, government, environmental, labor and nonprofit communities of the Greater Los Angeles region to spur investment, jobs and business development. Founded in 2010, the LABC Institute works with diverse community stakeholders and world-class institutions to conduct research and develop policies that promote economic development in Southern California and beyond.
Brief biographies of the new Board Members are below:
Lewis C. Horne: Lew Horne is the President of the Greater Los Angeles-Orange County Region for CBRE, Inc., a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company headquartered in Los Angeles and the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm. Mr. Horne provides leadership for more than 1,200 employees in eight regional offices and oversees all of the firm’s business segments, including property sales and leasing; corporate services; property, facilities and project management; mortgage banking; and appraisal and valuation. Under Mr. Horne’s leadership, the Greater Los Angeles/Orange County Region handles more than 12,000 sale and lease transactions annually and manages more than 80 million sq. ft. of commercial property. Mr. Horne is a past Chairman of the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation.
Noor Menai: Noor Menai is President & CEO of CTBC Bank Corp. USA, where he oversees its US operations including the bank’s Commercial and Industrial, and Commercial Real Estate lending groups, as well as 12 bank branches in California, New Jersey and New York. Prior to CTBC, Mr. Menai founded Fajr Capital, a sovereign wealth fund-backed investment fund. He has also served as President and CEO of Charles Schwab Bank and Managing Director for Citigroup North America, where he was responsible for sales in emerging markets and oversaw 1,100 relationship bankers in 18 countries.
Stephen Cheung: As the Director of International Trade for the Port of Los Angeles, Stephen Cheung develops programs to increase business and trade flow through the Port of LA and facilitate the movement of goods throughout the Southern California region. Concurrently, Cheung serves as the Secretary General for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and is responsible for the Port, Los Angeles World Airports, International Affairs and Global Trade. Cheung also serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Regional Export Council.
