NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kirby McInerney LLP announced today that a class action lawsuit is pending in the United States District Court for the Central District of California on behalf of investors who acquired Amira Nature Foods, Ltd. (“Amira” or the “Company”) (NYSE:ANFI) securities during the period from September 27, 2012 through February 9, 2015 (the “class period”). Pursuant to applicable law, investors have until April 13, 2015 to file a motion to be appointed as lead plaintiff in the investor lawsuit.
The lawsuit charges that the Company failed to disclose material adverse facts about the Company's business, operations, prospects and performance. On February 9, 2015, a third-party analyst firm, Prescience Point Research Group, issued a report highlighting that the Company had overstated revenues and participated in undisclosed material related party transactions. The Report also revealed that Defendant Chanana fraudulently used the Company to enrich himself personally.
In reaction to this news, the Company’s stock price declined more than 25%, from $13.40 on February 6, 2015 to $9.95 on February 9, 2015.
