Joint Tactical Networking Center Publishes Software Communications Architecture (SCA) 4.1 Draft

Upcoming Webinar Highlights Draft and Overviews Issue Submission

WASHINGTON--()--The Joint Tactical Networking Center (JTNC) announced that it has published the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) 4.1 Draft, an architecture framework developed to assist in the development of software defined radio communication systems, capturing the benefits of recent technology advances which are expected to greatly enhance interoperability of communication systems and reduce development and deployment costs.

The draft specification is now available through the JTNC website: http://jtnc.mil/sca/Pages/default.aspx.

In developing this much anticipated draft revision, the JTNC worked with The Wireless Innovation Forum, a non-profit international industry association dedicated to advocating for spectrum innovation, and advancing radio technologies that support essential or critical communications worldwide. The Forum’s Coordinating Committee on International SCA Standards has been working with the JTNC to provide input for the continuation of improvements to the SCA since the November 2013 kickoff meeting.

Working groups within the Committee produced several documents that were approved by the Forum membership and are included in the standard:

The Forum, with participation from the JTNC, will be hosting a webinar on the draft specification 18 February, which will include presentations on why the draft revision was created, an overview of its features and instruction on how to submit comments. You can register for the webinar here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8352118287667424002.

Supported by sponsors Selex ES, Motorola Solutions and Thales, WInnForum has several working groups focusing on projects related to SCA and Spectrum Innovation.
