CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, partnered with lighting product manufacturer MaxLite to bring its innovative new LED GU24 Puck Lamp to market quickly.
Intertek’s services helped MaxLite launch the industry’s first GU24-base light source rated for use in fully enclosed luminaires to earn placement on the ENERGY STAR Certified Subcomponent Database (CSD), which provides certified performance data for lighting subcomponents. As an EPA-recognized Testing Laboratory and Certification Body, Intertek conducts testing and certifies applicable energy efficient lighting products so they can bear the ENERGY STAR certification mark.
The MaxLite 850 lumen dimmable Puck Lamp is not only the first GU-24 base LED lamp available on the CSD for use in fully enclosed luminaires, but also the first replaceable light source with a compact form factor – it’s about the size of a hockey puck – which allows it to be used in products with shallow fixtures such as closet lights, ceiling fixtures, outdoor lights, and enclosed decorative fixtures.
“Intertek is committed to helping manufacturers like MaxLite with the testing and certification services needed to launch new products in the marketplace,” said Carl Bloomfield, Global Director of Lighting Business Services at Intertek. “Manufacturers will now experience reduced testing costs and decreased product certification timeframes when launching new ENERGY STAR certified lighting products.”
With Intertek’s efficient and reliable testing services, MaxLite was able to pave the way in the LED industry, making it easier for lighting fixture manufacturers to introduce ENERGY STAR certified LED lighting products. By incorporating MaxLite’s CSD-listed lamps into products, fixture manufacturers can reduce the cost and time to complete the ENERGY STAR certification process.
“An ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year, MaxLite is strongly committed to the ENERGY STAR program, and to Intertek as our partner of choice for ENERGY STAR testing and approvals,” said Chris Primous, Vice President of OEM Sales at MaxLite.
Intertek’s experience with the certification and testing of lighting is extensive. Intertek’s depth of services and expertise in global lighting regulations and technologies provides guidance to developers and manufacturers across the consumer and residential, commercial and industrial, transportation, and infrastructure markets. Lighting products can receive Intertek’s ETL Mark, which proves compliance to all requisite North American safety standards, as well as the CE Mark or equivalent marks for global markets.
