HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gift Flowers HK seems to be pursuing new delivery options for its flower bouquets. They recently announced having conducted a test run for flower deliveries by drone. The idea, naturally, is to circumvent Hong Kong’s traffic congestion, although the company quickly adds that drone deliveries will not be on the menu for some time as there are numerous regulatory issues to navigate. The spirit of pushing the envelope nevertheless did not start with the drone test. To add a touch of romance and class for Valentine’s Day, they also announced that all flower gifts on February 14 would be delivered by drivers in tuxedos.
Valentine’s Day, more so than Christmas, is the benchmark day in the flower delivery trade, compelling this online florist to come up with cutting edge marketing strategies. When “same day” and “free deliveries” became common place among florists, Gift Flowers HK had to find new delivery techniques to ignite their customers’ imaginations. This led to the “drivers in tuxedo” plan for V-Day. As for the longer term drone scheme, you can actually view the test run on a 3-minute YouTube that depicts a bouquet of roses held neatly under the drone’s belly and flown over Hong Kong’s waterways, with skyscrapers on both sides.
“Since day one,” says founder Justin Chung, “our aim has been to deliver a friendly and expeditious customer buying experience. With a couple of clicks on our website, or a quick phone call, clients can choose the flower bouquet of their liking, with or without the help of our expert florists. This would promptly be delivered, free of charge, to all metropolitan areas of Hong Kong and Discovery Bay”. As for the drone scheme, “Our company has tested using drones to deliver flowers to beat the heavy traffic in Hong Kong,” adds Chung. “I believe we are the first in Hong Kong and Asia to try this, and although there’s still a lot of work to be done before we can actually employ drones, the scheme is most heartening.”
Gift Flowers Hong Kong was launched in early 2013 and is one of Hong Kong’s premium online florists offering stylish bouquets, boxed flowers, floral arrangements and an assortment of related products.
