LOPEZ ISLAND, Wash.--()--Lopez Island today announced that registration is open for the annual Tour De Lopez bike ride to be held Saturday, April 25, 2015. The destination weekend starts on Friday April 24 with the second annual Bite of Lopez, a culinary sampling of Lopez restaurants, where riders can also register and check-in. Registration is available online through Active.com or by mail (printable registration forms available at www.lopezisland.com).

In its twelfth year, the Tour De Lopez is a non-competitive rural road tour with four marked routes (5, 12, 18 & 31 miles) on public county roads through the scenic landscape of Lopez Island. The ride starts at Odlin County Park or Lopez Village and ends at the Lopez Community Center, location of lunch, musical performances and beer garden. Registration and more details can be found at www.lopezisland.com.

The Lopez community will host several other events during the weekend. The Second Annual Bite of Lopez will be held at the Lopez Community Center from 4:30-8:30 P.M. on Friday, April 24. Local restaurants and food vendors will be on-site with tasty bites for sale, and riders will be able to check-in early for Saturday’s ride. Event T-shirts, sweatshirts and commemorative posters by local artist Christa Malay will also be for sale.

“The Tour De Lopez is a great way to be introduced to Lopez Island,” said Becky Smith, Lopez Chamber of Commerce president. “The entire island steps up to make this a fun and successful event year after year. The team of volunteers and riders alike enjoy the food, music and ride.”

To help riders discover the unique places around Lopez Island, the new Mixby app from Seattle-based Artifact Technologies is available as a download for iOS and Android phones. Providing notifications when phones with the app are within range of notable island places, Mixby is loaded with Lopez bike routes, points of interest and information on local businesses.
