TAINAN, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Information Systems and International Management Forum (ISIMF 2014) is currently taking place at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, with distinguished researchers, students and organizations from over ten countries present their studies in the field of management information systems and information technology.
During the three-day ISIMF venue, December 28-30, at NCKU’s Institute of International Management (IMBA), a total of 6 keynote speeches and 14 studies, divided over 3 plenary sessions, academic advance, collaboration, challenges and opportunities in information systems and management will be discussed.
All under the guidance of the program committee, consisting of local professors from NCKU, National Central University (NCU), National Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and National Taiwan University (NTU).
Among the participants attending ISIMF 2014 are honorable scholars in the field of management information systems and information technology; Dr. Suprateek Sarker, editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) from the University of Virginia (USA), Dr. Binshan Lin, editor-in-chief of the Expert Systems with Applications, Louisiana State University (USA) and eminent scholar Dr. Hsing Kenneth Cheng, University of Florida (USA).
With a traditional dance in colorful dresses, Indonesian students from the Institute of International Management opened ISIMF 2014.
NCKU IMBA Director Dr. Jengchung (Victor) Chen emphasized the fact that this forum was supported by funding from the Taiwan Higher Education Department.
Chen said, “Without this funding, it would have been impossible to organize something like this. According to the Ministry of Education, three years of additional funding will be provided to our department. So in the future we will be able to organize more workshops, conferences and forums.”
He also appreciated the role of the alumni in organizing the forum saying, “It's because of our rooted support in the region that we can organize a venue like this. We have scholars and professors in Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia, who contributed to the forum. I'm thus proud of standing here and make IMBA stronger.”
Dr. Suprateek Sarker from the University of Virginia (USA) had the honor of being the first presenter at ISIMF 2014. He introduced the audience into the importance of research programs for the success of Information System scholars.
