Focus Financial Gathers Partner Firm COOs & CCOs at Annual Summit to Discuss Role in Leading Firm Growth

LAS VEGAS--()--Last week, Focus Financial Partners, LLC, the largest partnership of independent wealth management firms, gathered the chief operations officers (COOs) and chief compliance officers (CCOs) from its network of 27 partner firms for the annual Operations and Compliance Summit, held in Las Vegas. The Summit provides Focus’ partner firms with an opportunity to network, discuss industry-shaping trends and share ideas for better practice management.

During the Summit, Focus executives and industry experts addressed the group about utilizing various practice management tools to foster growth. The Summit looked at the influence of the changing regulatory landscape, the growing role of technology and other emerging trends in practice management. Growth through M&A was another key topic at the Summit, with discussions focused on how COOs and CCOs can scale mergers operationally and execute deals more effectively by leveraging Focus’ expertise.

The key topics discussed at the Summit included:

Using technology to tailor information delivery

Joel Bruckenstein, a financial services technology expert and founder of the Technology Tools for Today (T3) Conferences, discussed the latest technology trends in wealth management. He highlighted changing client preferences around methods of information delivery and how RIAs can use technology to capitalize on this trend to better serve clients.

Differentiated positioning

A senior practice management consultant from TD Ameritrade Institutional discussed the recent FA Insights study of advisory firms, “Growth By Design” and how the development of a strategic plan can help firms effectively differentiate their service offerings to clients in the crowded marketplace.

Cyber security

Financial Crime and Anti-Money Laundering specialists from Charles Schwab & Co. discussed the latest threats in cyber-security and offered ways to protect client data from security breaches. The session also highlighted the opportunity for advisors to offer additional value to clients by serving as a source of guidance on how to protect personal information online.

Changing regulatory landscape

In separate sessions, speakers from Ascendant and MarketCounsel spoke about the changing regulatory landscape and hot topics that the SEC will be looking at going into 2015.

Focus Financial vice-president, Mark Dupont, led a panel discussion of three Focus partners on lessons learned in three recent mergers.

“For our partners, one of the key advantages of belonging to the Focus network is the access to other industry-leading advisors and the subsequent opportunities to learn from the experiences of other fiduciaries,” said Rudy Adolf, CEO and co-founder of Focus Financial Partners. “This Summit is an ideal platform to facilitate collaborative discussions about how to better serve clients and achieve growth and is a tremendous value-add for our partners.”

“The opportunity to collaborate with like-minded COOs and CCOs from industry-leading firms has facilitated valuable connections that I will leverage all year long,” said Jeff Fuhrman, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of LLBH Private Wealth Management. “We look forward to keeping these conversations going throughout the year as everyone takes home with them new ideas and energy heading into 2015.”
