GOLDEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Blue Spruce Federal Credit Union (BSFCU), Lakewood, Colo., has merged with Coors Credit Union effective immediately. Conversion of all member accounts will be complete January 1, 2015.
“We’re very pleased that the membership of Blue Spruce has voted to merge with Coors Credit Union,” said Tracie Wilcox, chief executive officer of Coors Credit Union.
“We know that the decision to merge with us and to actively seek an affirmative vote of the 1,100 BSFCU members came after a thoughtful analysis of the financial services landscape by the Blue Spruce Board of Directors—who voted unanimously for this merger,” she said.
As part of the merger agreement, Coors Credit Union has committed to retaining all BSFCU staff.
According to Wilcox, Blue Spruce approached Coors Credit Union because of its strong financial position and a shared philosophy of serving the membership with care, friendliness and financial expertise.
In the United States, credit unions are not-for profit cooperative organizations that often are charted by a sponsoring organization, such as a business.
Chris Stoglin, most recent chair of the Blue Spruce Board of Directors and representative of the sponsoring organization Terumo BCT, said that his company is looking forward to the additional financial services the credit union merger will afford the Terumo BCT workforce.
“Financial wellness is an important benefit for our Terumo BCT associates. Coors Credit Union is able to provide our associates access to a greater array of financial products and services,” he said.
Coors Credit Union provides a full range of financial services, retirement and investment services, an insurance agency and mortgage products.
Earlier this year, Coors Credit Union was named to the 2014 Top 200 list of Healthiest Credit Unions in the country by www.depositaccounts.com, an independent bank account comparison company that tracks commercial banks and more than 6,600 credit unions in the U.S. Coors Credit Union’s ranking puts it within the top 2.5 percent of credit unions for financial health.
