BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Introducing kodomo® – a next-generation application that gives parents the ability to monitor and manage their child’s mobile lifestyle on an Android® device through an easy-to-access portal from a laptop, tablet or smartphone.
Kodomo offers three distinct sets of features:
Safety and Control: kodomo gives parents the ability to set up alerts that automatically notify them when a child has arrived or left a location, like their home or school. Parents can also establish a geofence, helping them pinpoint their child’s whereabouts and notify them when they’ve left a specified area. Driving alerts let parents know if their child is riding in a car that’s following the speed limit.
Communication: kodomo helps parents stay abreast of what their child is loading on an Android® device, and when they’re using it. kodomo provides an up-to-date list of all the apps on a child’s mobile phone or tablet, and lets parents decide when their child can access them. Priority messaging also keeps parents in control if their child isn’t responding to texts or calls. Through kodomo, parents can lock their child’s Android device until the child answers their messages.
Insights: The adoption of mobile phones and tablets has accelerated, and sometimes it’s hard for parents to keep up with what their child is doing on their devices, and for how long. kodomo tracks patterns of usage, providing daily, weekly and monthly insights. Parents can use this data snapshot to make informed decisions about how to keep their child safe in a mobile world.
To use kodomo, there are two components. First parents download the child app, available through Google Play, on each Android device that they want to monitor. (Support for monitoring iOS devices is scheduled for 2015.)
Then, parents can sign up for kodomo’s parental controls portal through the website www.kodomozone.com -- or through a mobile application that is available for Android devices at the Google Play store. An iOS version of the parental app will be available at the Apple App store later this month. kodomo offers a free 30-day trial, after which parents may purchase a subscription.
