IRI's Steve Johnson to Highlight Strategies and Tactics for Activating Highest-Value Shoppers at Cleaning Products Conference 2014

Steve C. Johnson, Executive Vice President and Client Insights Leader, Information Resources, Inc. (IRI)

In his Cleaning Products Conference presentation, “Making Cents of the Cleaning Products Shopper,” IRI’s Steve Johnson will discuss strategies for home care and household cleaning manufacturers to identify, target and activate their value-oriented shoppers.

Johnson will discuss the competitive position created by private-label products and offer insights for how national brand manufacturers are delivering product diversification and benefits that translate to value perception.
Attendees will gain strategic insights into the benefits of engaging high-value shoppers, as well as tactical knowledge gleaned from channels that have driven growth assortment and pricing strategies.

In these times of economic uncertainty, value remains critical to home cleaning shoppers, but delivering on the promise of value is complex. Traditionally, there has been a distrust of private-label cleaning products by home cleaning consumers. There has been a major shift away from this line of thinking. Today, the value equation is being redefined in certain segments, some of which are driven by private-label sales in key retailers—others via innovation and positioning by branded manufacturers. For today’s savvy shopper, value comes in many forms. By understanding the value shoppers’ behaviors and attitudes, manufacturers of home cleaning products can make significantly smarter decisions regarding what products to develop, how to determine assortment, pricing and promotion, and how to reach their consumers/shoppers most efficiently and effectively along the entire path to purchase.
