SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SVForum, Silicon Valley’s leading non-profit organization devoted to innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging technology, announced today their second annual Startup Expo, which will be held on November 18th, 2014, in Silicon Valley, California. SVForum has dedicated the last thirty years to facilitating connections between entrepreneurs and the VC and investor community; the organization’s annual Startup Expo is one way in which those relationships begin and flourish.
“We love working with the emerging tech startup community—tomorrow’s technology is being produced right now in the Valley, and it’s exciting to watch it happen,” stated SVForum CEO Adiba Barney. “Helping entrepreneurs forge their first business relationships is at the heart of what our organization stands for, and our Startup Expo will be a great chance for future innovators to meet the people who can help them take the next huge step in their journey toward success.”
“We’re excited to be sponsoring Startup Expo,” stated Michael Torosian, partner at DLA Piper and panel moderator. “This event highlights what SVForum is all about: creating connections and opportunities within the startup ecosystem in Silicon Valley. Startup Expo is a great event for companies to introduce themselves to selected members of the investment community and for investors to meet great entrepreneurs and companies.” In addition to DLA Piper, other sponsors include FLG Partners and Moss Adams.
Startup Expo is open to accredited investors and emerging tech startups seeking Series A, B, and C rounds of funding, as well as seed funding. Application and pre-approval is required in order to participate as a pitching company; companies interested in joining should apply at the event website. Investors, Angels, and VCs are invited to attend for free—those who wish to obtain an invitation should email Sepideh Nasiri (email@example.com) with firm information and/or Crunchbase profile.
The Startup Expo floor will open at 1:00 pm, and participating startups will deliver freestyle pitches to investors and VCs throughout the day. 12 startups will be handpicked from among the applicants to deliver a two-minute pitch onstage. The Expo will also hold a panel discussion on “The Future of Investments,” which will be moderated by Michael Torosian of DLA Piper. Other panelists will include Jacob Mullins of Exitround. A cocktail reception will follow (an occasion reserved for participants and investors only).
