MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Metropolitan Airports Commission will request proposals for new retail and restaurant concepts at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport next year and is hosting informational meetings to help interested businesses understand and prepare for the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
There will be two sessions:
Session 1, “Understanding the RFP Process and Leasing Structures,” will be held Nov. 17 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Terminal 1-Lindbergh, 4300 Glumack Dr., St. Paul. At this session, participants will gain an understanding of the mission, history and organizational structure of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MSP’s owner and operator) and will learn about MSP’s current concessions program, customer demographics, the RFP process and financial considerations for establishing a business at the airport.
Session 2, “Business Outreach and Networking,” will be held Dec. 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., also at Terminal 1, and will provide an opportunity for participants to introduce their concepts to and connect with other business leaders.
“Establishing a business at MSP is a challenging endeavor, particularly to those whom have not previously worked in an airport environment,” says Liz Grzechowiak, the MAC’s assistant director of concessions and business development. “The reward for a job well done, however, is exceptional sales from our 33 million annual passengers. We look forward to sharing the process with the business community to help them decipher whether or not the 2015 concessions re-bid is the right opportunity for their business.”
Anyone interested in possibly starting a business at MSP Airport is welcome to attend. To RSVP for Session 1, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/leasingseries. Instructions for how to attend will be emailed to you. Or you can contact Liz Grzechowiak at Liz.Grzechowiak@mspmac.org or 612-713-8746.
The last major rebid of concessions space at MSP occurred in 2003–04. Space typically is leased in 7-, 8- or 9-year increments to businesses selected through the competitive RFP process.
