OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UnitedLex, a global, full-service provider of technology powered legal and business solutions, today announced that it was selected by Sedgwick LLP, an AmLaw 200 international litigation and business law firm, to provide and manage litigation support staff, technologies, data and services for the firm’s 17 offices through 2017.
UnitedLex is providing a variety of litigation support services to Sedgwick, including project management, forensic collection, processing, data hosting, document review and trial support. It has implemented new technologies and established proven business processes that will improve workflow, efficiency and quality while decreasing cost, such as UnitedLex’s Questio managed eDiscovery service. The company has also hired and trained a team of professionals, who are exclusively dedicated to supporting Sedgwick’s clients. Finally, Sedgwick has access to UnitedLex’s other services, such as Cyber Risk Solutions and expert IP services, as well as the knowledge and expertise it has amassed from working with some of the world’s top corporations and law firms.
“Of all the companies we evaluated, only UnitedLex had experience and success in staffing and managing an outsourced, centralized litigation support center,” said Todd Corham, Chief Information Officer at Sedgwick LLP. “With this partnership we have added an expanded litigation support operation that will increase efficiency, offer an even deeper eDiscovery capability, and provide superior support to our legal teams and clients for the next three years and beyond.”
In February 2014, Sedgwick announced it would consolidate and centralize its litigation support group for greater efficiency and knowledge sharing within the firm’s new Shared Services Center in Kansas City, MO. The newly relocated group began operations on October 1.
“While Sedgwick was strategically consolidating operations in Kansas City, it was an ideal time for UnitedLex to assist them in restructuring their litigation support model, enhancing it with new technologies and services, proven processes, highly trained personnel, and the collective knowledge of one of the industry’s top legal services companies,” said Dave Deppe; President of UnitedLex. “We know from experience the positive impact that insourcing litigation support has on a firm’s operations and bottom line, and we look forward to contributing to Sedgwick’s future success.”
As part of the engagement, UnitedLex first conducted an Amplio assessment of Sedgwick’s existing litigation support capabilities to gauge the operational and financial strength of the firm’s litigation support operations. UnitedLex’s Amplio team of more than 50 attorneys, technologists and senior business analysts provide unmatched expertise in litigation support assessment and improvement by leveraging highly-proven, proprietary methodologies and best practices from the Amplio benchmark database – the world’s largest database of litigation support operation benchmarks and analyses.
