STANFORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stanford Health Care today announced that its Advanced Wound Care Center is now open at the Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center in Redwood City. Stanford’s Advanced Wound Care Center provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to chronic wound care, with an emphasis on limb preservation for patients at risk for limb loss.
Led by experts in vascular and plastic surgery, the Advanced Wound Care Center's team coordinates care with Stanford specialists in infectious disease, orthopaedics, radiology, endocrinology, cardiology, nursing, physical therapy, nutrition and social work.
“Wound management is a multifactorial, multidisciplinary process,” said Venita Chandra, MD, co-director of the Advanced Wound Care Center and clinical assistant professor of vascular surgery at the Stanford School of Medicine. “Stanford’s center stands apart because we bring together expertise in pressure reduction, infection, nutrition, mobility, pain management, psychosocial issues and other specialties to provide patients with chronic wounds a comprehensive solution.”
In addition to a multidisciplinary team of experts, Stanford’s new center offers leading edge medical treatments and technologies, including two state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers and access to a wide range of clinical trials.
“Being able to manage all of the coordination under one roof is more convenient for the patient and streamlines their care,” says Subhro Sen, MD, co-director of the Advanced Wound Care Center and clinical assistant professor of plastic surgery at the Stanford School of Medicine. “Our goal is to provide truly comprehensive and cohesive care that is unmatched in the region.”
