SILVER SPRING, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--e-Management, an award-winning IT solutions company, announced today the release of CyberRx, one of the first Cybersecurity Risk Intelligence (RI) tools that will help small and medium-sized businesses identify, protect, detect, respond and recover risks before disastrous cybersecurity attacks happen. CyberRx will be presented commercially by e-Management, Booth #203, at this year’s CyberMaryland Conference, held on October 29-30 at the Baltimore Convention Center.
“CyberRx is urgently needed by small and medium-sized organizations that are many times more vulnerable to cybersecurity attacks than those with large infrastructures and protection investments,” said Ola Sage, Founder & CEO, e-Management. “Over half of all cyber-attacks happen to businesses with fewer than 2,500 employees, leaving those companies at risk of lawsuits, loss of reputation, and revenue. Just one attack can destroy a small business or seriously disrupt service delivery.”
Unlike cybersecurity software that only focuses on an organization’s IT or IT infrastructure, CyberRx also assesses other aspects of an organization from operations and internal processes, to the organization's human factor. With its goal of “readiness, preparedness, and resilience,” CyberRx also enables customers to conduct a risk assessment of their operational environment, estimate the likelihood of a cybersecurity event and gauge the financial impact that a cybersecurity event could have on the organization.
CyberRx is also the first RI tool to incorporate the new and voluntary Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Framework published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in February 2014.
With CyberRx, customers benefits by:
- Becoming more knowledgeable about the cybersecurity threats and risks to their organizations and better informed about their cybersecurity capabilities;
- Having greater confidence and control in prioritizing and determining where to invest resources for cybersecurity;
- Reducing legal risk by being able to provide after-the-fact evidence of good faith efforts to manage cybersecurity risks;
- Enabling quick response to audits, compliance reviews, and other cybersecurity assessments; and
- Being fully compliant with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST 800-53 Rev4, NIST 800-30, and other industry standards.
Last year, Symantec reported that small businesses employing 2,500 or fewer workers made up about a third of cyber-attacks, continuing an upward trend from 2012. Similarly, Verizon announced that small businesses were especially vulnerable to data breaches. Nearly half of companies with 1,000 employees or fewer were the targets of cyber-attacks, according to Verizon data. The majority of those breaches were against companies with fewer than 100 employees.
“Ultimately, the goal of CyberRx is to help small and medium-sized businesses reduce and better manage cybersecurity risks,” added Sage, who is an Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council (ITSCC) member and Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame (MCBHOF) 2014 honoree. “Armed with the data that CyberRx provides, I am confident that small and medium-sized business CEOs, CFOs and other C-level executives will be better equipped to make critical IT security decisions, prioritize investments, and maximize the impact of their dollars spent.”
