ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For women business owners in Georgia and the Carolinas, access to corporate contracts, relationships, professional development and capital resources to grow their companies just got easier. On September 30, the Greater Women’s Business Council, Inc. (GWBC®) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) forged an unprecedented partnership that will leverage the resources of both organizations, creating a more empowered pipeline of opportunities throughout the southeast region for women-owned businesses and the communities they serve. GWBC President & CEO Roz Lewis and GWBC Board Chair Lisa Johnson, along with SBA’s Regional Administrator Cassius Butts, Georgia District Director Terri L. Denison and South Carolina District Director Elliott O. Cooper, ceremonially signed the official Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) during GWBC’s annual Power of Partnering Conference & Trade Fair.
In addition to the MOU signings, actress and business owner Kim Fields addressed more than 300 attendees during the conference sharing insights on long-term sustainability in business.
“As a leading authority for women business enterprises, it’s our responsibility to keep a pulse on the next generation of opportunities for our constituents where they exist,” said Roz Lewis, president & CEO of the Greater Women’s Business Council. “What we’re doing with emerging new alliances strengthens our ability to facilitate economically-fertile relationships.”
“We are honored to enter a strategic alliance with the GWBC, allowing us to broaden our reach to entrepreneurs from Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Alliances such as these are in line with SBA’s current mission to remain Smart, Bold and Accessible to America’s entrepreneurs,” said Cassius Butts, Regional Administrator, U.S. Small Business Administration.
Hosted at the Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart, the event included GWBC’s WAVE Scholarship Golf Tournament, educational breakout sessions and presentations, including a panel titled ‘Untapped Opportunities in the New Hollywood of the South’ revealing supplier opportunities in the growing entertainment industry and moderated by Roger Bobb of Bobbcat Films.
