SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pamela Demain, Executive Director for Business Development and Licensing at Merck & Co. Inc., has been elected President of the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc., during the Society’s 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting here this week.
As President, Ms. Demain will focus intensively on executing “LES 2020,” a recently-launched, 5-year strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the Society’s position as a primary thought leader for business development, intellectual property, public policy and the premier source for best practices, content, education programs and innovation business solutions.
“LES is THE association for business development, IP and other innovation professionals across industries, and as our profession changes, LES will adapt to continue to provide valuable leadership, education and networking opportunities for all of our members,” said Ms. Demain.
In her role with Merck, Ms. Demain is responsible for negotiating transactions with companies, universities and institutions worldwide, as well as leading relationship development for licensing. In the years leading up to her presidency, Ms. Demain has served LES tirelessly in numerous leadership roles. As Regional Vice President, USA (2010-2011) she was responsible for developing the LES Policy Manual and as Vice President for Communications (2008-2010), she oversaw a major branding initiative, the launch of LES Insights and the creation of the Society’s first Editorial Board. As Trustee for Partnering (2006-2007), she spearheaded the Power Networking initiative and in 2013 she received the prestigious Frank Barnes Mentor Award. She is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) and has been an active LES speaker and attendee at seasonal, annual and New Jersey Chapter meetings for many years.
