WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As a cap to Clinical Research Innovation Month, the Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO) today released a report titled Clinical Research: A Legacy of Innovation, A Future of Transformed Medicine which showcases advancements in clinical trial processes that have come about as a result of clinical research organization (CRO) innovation. An explanation of the expanding size and scope of CROs globally along with policy recommendations to improve clinical trials in the United States and European Union (EU) and 12 case studies detailing CRO-driven innovation are also featured in the report.
ACRO Executive Director Doug Peddicord, Ph.D., commented on the report: “ACRO members compete on the basis of innovation. While long recognized for their expertise in managing clinical trials, ACRO members today are using their knowledge and expertise to add value throughout the entire discovery, development, and delivery cycle--from early clinical studies through commercialization and monitoring of new medical products. Sponsors are benefiting from these innovations as are patients, who benefit from having access to new, more individualized treatments much sooner.”
The report’s dozen member company case studies highlight clinical research innovation in areas such as risk-based monitoring, adaptive trial design, enhanced patient recruitment, data analytics, predictive technologies, logistics management, commercialization, and safety monitoring. Time and money saved because of these innovations benefit research sponsors and patients alike.
