MEXICO CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A.M. Best is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, A.M. Best America Latina, has received approval from the Comision Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) to be a registered rating agency in Mexico.
Under a new regulatory framework being implemented by the Comision Nacional de Seguros y Fianzas (CNSF), all Mexico insurance companies will be required to have a national scale rating from a CNBV-regulated rating agency beginning in April 2015. In response, A.M. Best firmed its commitment to the Mexican market and established a subsidiary office in Mexico City under the leadership of Andrea Keenan, managing director of A.M Best America Latina, and Alfonso Novelo, director of rating analysis. Keenan and Novelo will help build a world-class analytical team to implement A.M. Best’s strategy in Latin America from its new Mexico City office.
A.M. Best is the leading rating agency for insurance company financial strength ratings and has been rating insurers in Mexico for 15 years. “We are pleased to be registered in Mexico and to be able to offer our broad experience in analyzing insurance companies to the Mexican insurance market participants,” Keenan said.
