MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Barbara’s, known for making delicious cereals and snacks from simple, wholesome ingredients, today announced its continued commitment to supporting the non-GMO movement via a partnership with the Non-GMO Project. The partnership will consist of an educational webinar for RDs, nutritionists, and consumers, in addition to: in-store activations, digital cross promotions, sampling, and more. All activities during the Non-GMO Month of October will be centered on raising consumer awareness about genetically modified organisms (GMOs), high-risk crops, and easy ways to avoid GMOs.
“For years, Barbara’s has been committed to providing great tasting non-GMO food options for our loyal consumers, because we know it’s extremely important to them,” said Katrina Yolen, U.S. Director of Marketing at Barbara’s. “We’ve remained true to this commitment by ensuring the vast majority of our products are Non-GMO Project Verified, and now we’re taking our commitment one step further by helping educate the public and build awareness about GMOs by lending our voice and support to the Non-GMO Project.”
Over the past few years, Barbara’s earned Non-GMO Project Verification for the majority of its product portfolio, including its best-selling Puffins Cereals. New packaging featuring the Non-GMO Project Verified seal and a new look for the brand debuted nationwide last fall. The brand invested heavily in the pursuit of Non-GMO Project Verification; it took a company-wide commitment with R&D, Procurement, Quality, Operations, and Marketing working closely together to achieve Non-GMO Project Verified status. After enrolling its products in the process, Barbara’s learned that nearly half already met the rigorous standards for verification, and in other cases the company found new non-GMO ingredient suppliers in the United States as well as from Canada, Europe and Latin America.
“We always appreciate brands that commit to increasing the non-GMO food supply,” said Megan Westgate, Executive Director of the Non-GMO Project. “Barbara’s listens to their customers and has shown a dedication to transparency by achieving Non-GMO Project Verified status for so many of their products.”
The Non-GMO Project offers North America’s only third-party verification for non-GMO food and products, committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers, and providing verified non-GMO choices.
Consumers can find a complete list of all of Barbara’s Non-GMO Project Verified products at Barbaras.com, www.NonGMOProject.org, and by looking for the Non-GMO Project Verified seal on Barbara’s products in major retail grocery stores and natural food stores nationwide.
