HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eid Passport, Inc., a national leader in high-assurance identity management solutions and the largest commercial provider of vendor credentials at military facilities, is recognizing and supporting National Disability Employment Awareness Month through participation in key events in October. The company is partnering to bring Abilities in Motion and a Night For Networking to the disabled community in Portland, Ore.
“We have long been committed to building a diverse workforce through various community partnerships,” said Steve Larson, Eid Passport’s chairman and CEO. “Gainful employment opportunities are just one component of fostering quality of life for individuals with disabilities. We’re pleased to offer support not only in expanding job prospects, but in enhancing health and fitness for this segment of the population.”
Recently recognized as Employer of the Year by Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) for its promotion of equal employment opportunities for veterans and individuals with disabilities, Eid Passport continues to reach out to the disability community through sponsoring events with potential to make big impacts on individual lives.
Partnering with the Connecting Communities Coalition in Portland, Ore., Eid Passport is helping to bring Abilities in Motion to the Double Tree Hotel, Lloyd Center also in Portland, Ore., on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The event offers an evening exploring activities that promote health, fitness and fun for individuals with disabilities in Portland. Hosted by local radio personality John Williams, the event features internationally recognized Paralympics wheelchair tennis player David Wagner as the keynote speaker and is free and open to the public.
In conjunction with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Eid Passport is supporting the fifth annual Night For Networking, on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the Collaborative Life Sciences Building in the South Waterfront district in Portland, Ore. Held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the evening offers disabled individuals an opportunity to connect their talents with employers in the area. Nearly 93 percent of attendees at the 2013 event reported making meaningful job-seeking contact.
In addition to sponsorship activities, Eid Passport reinforces its appreciation for talent found in all individuals regardless of disability through educating its workforce. This month’s all-staff meeting will feature Steve Hanamura from Hanamura Consulting. Blind since birth, Hanamura shares his compelling story while educating, entertaining and inspiring listeners to celebrate oneness – “helping people to work and live together in harmony while appreciating differences in others.”
