CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In celebration of World Animal Day on Sat., Oct. 4, an international day of action to raise awareness for animal issues throughout the world, Dawn hosted a “Day in the Wildlife” event to spotlight the vital role that International Bird Rescue (IBR) and The Marine Mammal Center play in the health and wellness of marine animals worldwide. Together with hundreds of partners across the globe, there are nearly 100,000 volunteers serving on a daily basis saving the lives of tens of thousands of animals each year. When the issue involves oil spills, these partners rely on Dawn to get the animals clean because it’s soft on feathers and tough on grease. The World Animal Day celebration was attended by animal advocates and hosted at the IBR in San Pedro, Calif., and included the release of rehabilitated birds back into the wild.
“Dawn has served as our trusted partner in animal rescue and rehabilitation work for more than 25 years, and we’re very privileged to be spotlighting the hard work and dedication of our incredible volunteers – the true lifeblood of our organization,” said Barbara Callahan, Executive Director, International Bird Rescue. “Dawn’s continued support of International Bird Rescue has made it possible for us to sustain our two rescue facilities and help thousands of birds each year.”
People around the world can view Dawn’s Virtual Volunteer videos for a firsthand perspective on a day in the life of a volunteer rescue worker helping save oiled animals in need.
Adrian Grenier and Keegan Allen Join to Celebrate World Animal Day
During the IBR event, guests experienced an exclusive tour of the facility and shadowed veteran volunteers for a behind-the-scenes look at the work involved in operating a wildlife rescue organization. To culminate the World Animal Day celebration, animal advocates, Keegan Allen and Adrian Grenier participated in the release of nine rehabilitated birds back into the wild – including a California Brown Pelican – their rehabilitation and recovery of which was made possible thanks to IBR volunteers and staff.
“I care very deeply about the well-being of our planet’s wildlife, and strive to educate and encourage others to do their part as well,” said actor Keegan Allen. “When Dawn invited me to join them in shining a light on the great work done by International Bird Rescue and The Marine Mammal Center volunteers in recognition of World Animal Day, it was my absolute pleasure to participate.”
“The well-being of animals and wildlife is a deep passion of mine and I spend a lot of time advocating for their health and safety through various projects,” said actor Adrian Grenier. “World Animal Day is the ideal time to honor the volunteers at International Bird Rescue and The Marine Mammal Center who selflessly help rescue and rehabilitate marine birds and mammals from around the world.”
ABOUT DAWN AND ITS EFFORTS TO SUPPORT WILDLIFE
For over 40 years, Dawn has been supporting wildlife rescue rehabilitation centers with its product to clean animals affected by oil pollution. Independent studies have proven Dawn to be the most effective dishwashing detergent for cleaning oiled animals, heralded for its “soft on feathers, tough on grease” benefit. As such, Dawn is the only brand trusted by wildlife rescue experts for decades. Since 2006, Dawn has donated more than 50,000 bottles of dishwashing liquid and financial support to its wildlife partners, International Bird Rescue and The Marine Mammal Center. These donations have helped these organizations clean more than 75,000 marine animals in the United States.
