CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Cincinnati law firm of Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL (KMK Law®) is pleased to announce that it has elected two new partners, Litigation attorney Thomas F. Hankinson and Real Estate attorney Barrett P. Tullis.
Thomas F. Hankinson practices in KMK Law’s Litigation Group. Hankinson has experience with disputes in employment, contracts, intellectual property, unfair competition, class actions, directors and officers liability, large- and small-scale discovery, subpoenas and more. He regularly handles complex litigation matters, including management of e-discovery. Hankinson represents both plaintiffs and defendants in significant litigation, and his recent experience includes: defending against an attempted nationwide Fair Labor Standards Act class and collective action on behalf of a Cincinnati-based global corporation; representing a local start-up in seeking compensation for unfair competition by a competitor; defending corporate and individual clients against allegations of racketeering, false advertising, tortious interference, and trademark infringement; and handling discovery (both in litigation and in response to third-party subpoenas) for clients who want to comply with their obligations with the least possible business interruption and expense.
Prior to joining KMK Law, Hankinson was an associate in the intellectual property litigation group at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, Illinois, and a member of the improvisational theater group Maude, performing at IO Chicago. Hankinson earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, Associate Editor Northwestern University Law Review, in 2007. He earned his B.A. from Denison University, summa cum laude, in 2002.
Barrett P. Tullis practices in KMK Law’s Real Estate Group. His practice is focused on providing practical advice to real estate developers in all facets of real estate development. Tullis regularly advises clients on the acquisition, financing, construction, leasing and disposition of retail shopping centers. Tullis has significant experience negotiating leases with numerous national retailers. Over the course of the last two years, he has represented one of the Midwest’s leading providers of retail real estate services in approximately 15 transactions, providing the full range of legal services, including title review, construction, financing, leasing and dispositions. In addition, Tullis represents a large Cincinnati-based developer in the leasing of its office properties throughout Southwest Ohio.
Tullis has significant experience with land-use and zoning matters and has represented clients throughout the region to obtain variances, zone changes and other land entitlements. Additionally, he has experience with public finance law and has represented clients in obtaining tax increment financing. Tullis has successfully represented numerous clients in seeking real property tax valuation reductions as well as tax abatements and exemptions.
Tullis graduated as valedictorian from the University of Dayton School of Law, summa cum laude, while serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Dayton Law Review, in 2007. He earned his B.A. from Furman University in 2004.
