LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HOT ROD announced that Larry Larson of Larson Race Cars, a five-time winner of HOT ROD’s Drag Week, now holds the title of builder and driver of the world's quickest street legal car. Larson’s 1998 Chevy S-10 ran the quarter-mile in 6.16 seconds at 219 mph at Tulsa Raceway Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on September 13, 2014, during a HOT ROD–hosted dragstrip event. Larson’s time breaks the previous record of 6.40 seconds set by England’s Andy Frost in 2013.
“Larry Larson’s record-breaking run at HOT ROD’s Drag Week brings the title of world’s quickest street-legal car back to America and redefines street-car performance. There’s simply nothing quicker on Earth with a license plate,” said HOT ROD Editor-In-Chief David Kennedy.
