BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Balihoo (www.balihoo.com), the leading local marketing platform, announced today that it will host the second annual fundraiser event - the Steampact Gala - on October 11, 2014 benefitting Family Advocates, a Boise-based non-profit organization committed to keeping abused children out of danger and in safe homes, while working with parents to build strong families.
The event will be held at Crooked Flats Brewery in Eagle, Idaho, doors will open at 6 p.m. The cost of general admission is $30, a ticket that includes dinner is $50. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Family Advocates, a non-profit whose mission is to train volunteers to provide a voice for abused children and home visits to educate families so that all children are safe and nurtured. With the help of other great sponsors in the Boise area, including Davies-Moore, a digital media and PR agency, 8th Street Marketplace, and Crooked Flats, Balihoo set a goal to beat last year’s $57,000 fundraiser mark.
“At Balihoo, we take volunteering and giving back to our community very seriously, in fact, we have a whole program - the Pawsitive Project - dedicated to doing just that,” said Balihoo CEO, Dave Oliveira. “Family Advocates is a non-profit we’ve worked with in the past, and are proud and excited to be partnering with again to help raise awareness and funds for children whose lives have been marked by abuse. The dedicated team at Family Advocates devotes their time to bettering the lives of children and families in our community every day, so doing what we can to shed light on their efforts is a small way we can say ‘Thank You’ to the true heroes in our town.”
In addition to raising money for a great cause, attendees can expect an evening full of fun, including live music from Jack Hale and the Tea Room, a roaring 20s speakeasy band, a live auction with tons of great items, psychic Sheila, an aerial ballet performer, and a photo booth.

About Family Advocates
For over 30 years Family Advocates has provided child abuse prevention and intervention services to the Treasure Valley through the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and Home Visiting programs. The CASA program pairs a highly trained volunteer to every child placed in the foster care system — 600-700 children a year in our district. Fifty percent of the children entering foster care in our region are under the age of six. Our program trains and supervises more than 250 volunteers who serve as the child’s voice in court.
