DORAL, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--It breaks our heart when we hear the tragic news of a newborn baby being abandoned and left to die. While no one can fully understand why a person would endanger a vulnerable child, two common denominators present themselves, isolation and denial. The mothers of these infants are usually young and overwhelmed, who panic and feel they have no support.
A Safe Haven for Newborns is the organization in the state, providing education and direct support to mothers about a Florida law that allows for them to deliver their baby, within seven days of birth, to someone at a Safe Haven; any hospital, 24/7 staffed fire rescue station or staffed emergency medical service station. The process will take place with no questions asked, totally anonymous and free from prosecution.
