LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TRACE Sport Stars, the world’s premier sport celebrity channel, is celebrating further expansion in Mexico as it today announces a carriage agreement with FTTH platform AXTEL, whereby the channel is available immediately via AXTEL TV’s ULTRA, TOTAL and HD packages on channel 959.
The new deal with AXTEL demonstrates the unprecedented demand for TRACE Sport Stars in Mexico, the channel now being available on 5 major operators in the region just 2 years since its initial launch. Mexican audiences can watch the channel via operators: Sky, Megacable, Cablecom, TVI and now AXTEL TV, with further announcements expected in the coming weeks.
Jenaro Martínez, Director AXTEL TV, commented: “AXTEL’s content strategy is highly defined in the quality of the channels and not in the quantity. TRACE Sport Stars is a unique proposal that sees sports in a social context, featuring interesting news and reaching way beyond the game. TRACE Sport Stars adds a value to our schedule that will benefit those subscribers who love sports within the alternative context of sport celebrities.”
Laurent Dumeau, CEO TRACE Sport Stars, said: “We are delighted to be launching on AXTEL TV and offering our original sport entertainment programming to its subscribers. We are confident the channel will bring an interesting and alternative perspective to sports fans, allowing AXTEL’s audience to get more personal with their favourite champions.”
Commenting specifically on TRACE Sport Stars in Mexico, Dumeau continues: “Launching on AXTEL is another significant step for the channel’s continued success in the region. The demand for the channel is growing ever stronger in Mexico. In response we are introducing a Mexican presenter (to be announced next month) and we are having discussions with several local partners to produce a Mexican version of TRACE Sport Stars and build upon its current success.”
