COLUMBUS, Ohio--()--Tablet computers provided by software company Election Administrators, LLC (EA) will start replacing paper lists at polling places across Ohio after the certification of the EA Tablet® System by the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office.

The EA Tablet System is a software application that turns paper voter lists into electronic copies that run on the Android® operating system. The electronic poll book utilizes 10 inch tablets that are secured by a patented rotating stand designed by EA and accompanied by a small printer.

The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office created a stringent certification process for vendors that want to market electronic poll books in Ohio. The certification process included a list of requirements that needed to be verified by a laboratory accredited by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). EA used NTS Laboratories headquartered in Calabasas, California for this process. The second and final step was a demonstration of the requirements for the Ohio Board of Voting Machine Examiners. EA was the first to be certified and is the only certified electronic poll book that has been used in an Ohio election.

“We are excited to be certified in Ohio. The System has been used in the past 4 elections in multiple counties throughout Ohio, including the 2014 Primary Election,” said Martin White, President of EA. “We have received accolades from each Ohio county that has used the System. That is something we are very proud of! We anticipate more Ohio Counties will choose to come on board now that we have gained certification. There is a lot of interest in the System in Ohio and throughout the country.”

Based in St. Louis, MO, EA has deployments in 180 counties in 14 different states and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Dubbed the leader in mobile election technologies, EA started with a Palm® Pilot application used in elections. Fast forward to 2014, their software suite now also includes the Election Assistant™ 6.0, an Android based handheld lookup device, a laptop based electronic poll book called the EA Pollbook™, and a central server application for the management of their electronic poll books called Synergy™. IS Elections by Inclusion Solutions, LLC is the authorized reseller of the EA Tablet System in Ohio.
